The manufacturing process of forged rings mainly includes the following steps:
1.Raw material preparation: Select the appropriate metal blanks based on the material and shape requirements of the forged rings to be produced. These blanks undergo cutting, cleaning, and other processes to ensure their surface flatness and cleanliness, facilitating subsequent processing.

2.Preheating: Heat the metal blanks to an appropriate temperature to soften them, improve their plasticity and ductility, and facilitate subsequent forging processes. The preheating temperature and time are determined based on the type and shape of the material.

3.Forging: Forging is the core process in the manufacture of forged rings. In this process, the heated metal blanks are placed in forging equipment (such as air hammers or electro-hydraulic hammers) for upsetting, drawing, and other operations. At the same time, the dimensions and temperature of the forgings are monitored in real-time to ensure the smooth progress of the forging process.

  1. For forged rings, hole expansion is an important step. The main difference between free forging and ring rolling processes in hole expansion lies in the methods used: free forging typically uses a mandrel for hole expansion, while ring rolling mainly uses rolling for hole expansion. Mandrel hole expansion involves elongating the ring forging blank along the circumferential direction, which is a local loading process with overall stress. In contrast, rolling hole expansion is a plastic forming process that uses a ring rolling machine to continuously apply local plastic deformation to the ring, achieving a reduction in wall thickness, an increase in diameter, and shaping of the cross-sectional profile.

4.Heat treatment: Heat the forgings to a predetermined temperature, hold them for a specific time, and then cool them at a controlled rate to improve the internal structure and overall properties of the forgings. After heat treatment, the forgings undergo quenching treatment, either air cooling or water cooling, according to the material requirements.

  1. Cooling: After forging and heat treatment, the temperature of the forged rings rises and needs to be cooled to an appropriate level.

6.Rough machining: Once the forged rings have taken their basic shape, they undergo rough machining operations such as cutting and grinding to achieve the specified dimensions and shape, as required by the product specifications.

Please note that the above steps provide a general overview of the forged ring manufacturing process, and the actual production process may vary depending on factors such as materials, processes, and equipment. Therefore, in a specific production environment, adjustments and optimizations should be made according to the actual situation.
